Date :Définition
A white to yellowish white powder; an addictive drug, used as a narcotic analgesic.
A synthetic compound similar in effects to morphine which is also very similar to meperidine, another synthetic opiate, in chemical structure and pharmacological actions.Note :
It is not so constipating as morphine but otherwise has similar side reactions, e.g., vomiting, nausea, feelings of warmth, faintness, and dizziness. Injections of 30 to 40 milligrams will produce analgesia equal to that of 10 milligrams of morphine with a shorter duration (two to three hours) than morphine. As with morphine, overdosage can cause respiratory depression and death, physical dependence results from long-term usage, with withdrawal symptoms similar to those of morphine in severity. Commercial preparations are Lerinol and Leritine..
