  Very thin sheet metal, usually in such metals as tin, aluminium, copper, gold, silver and sometimes lead; it is used for wrapping, decoration and in the manufacture of electrical condensers; there is no standard thickness of foil, but it is generally regarded as being intermediate in thickness between "leaf" and sheet.
