Définition :
La capacité calorifique d'un combustible est la quantité de chaleur dégagée par la combustion complète de l'unité de poids de ce matériau.
Note :
Les unités usitées pour exprimer la capacité calorifique sont : a) les calories par gramme b) les thermies britanniques par livre (Btu) (le facteur de conversion est d'une calorie par gramme pour 1,8 Btu par livre) c) Btu/Standard Cubic Feet of gas = 0,028 m³ de gaz.

The calorific value of combustible material is the quantity of heat produced by completed combustion of unit weight of the material.
Note :
The units in which the calorific value is usually given are calories per gram and (b) British thermal units per pound. The systems may be converted by the relationship: 1 calorie per gram = 1,8 Btu per lb. (c) Btu/Scf of gas.
