  Définition

  Degree of ability of a membrane to allow the passage of certain ionic species (counter-ions) while preventing the passage of other species (co-ions). The maximum transport number for counter-ions attainable with a perfect membrane is 1, the minimum for co-ions being 0. Permselectivity is defined as the ratio of the increase of the transport number of counter-ions passing from the solution into the membrane to the maximum theoretical increase, when applied to a perfect membrane.
