The mannose units are linked at the 1,4 positions in the softwoods (pine, spruce, etc.), as well as in some nuts.
A subgroup, called galactomannans, is a combination of galactose and mannose, the two being isomeric sugars with slight differences in molecular linkage; they bear about the same relationship as cellulose and starch. Galactomannans are found in the seeds of such plants as guar, locust, and other rare species. Mannans are used in textile and paper sizings, leather tanning, and as food additives.Termes :
