Date :Définition
A container in which tobacco is burnt to inhale the smoke produced.
Note :
The pipe of classical shape consists of a pipe bowl (tobacco container), a stem (tube) and a mouthpiece. It is the oldest form of a mobile smoking appliance which, with all its variations, originates from the Kalumet of the American Red Indians. The simple and short pipes are made of mouthpiece and stem in one piece and with the bowl as a separate part. The semi-long and long pipes consist of the same three sections as mentioned above but all are separate parts. Clay pipes and cocoa-wood pipes are made in one piece. Most popular raw materials for the bowls are several types of wood (Bruyère being of special importance) or clay; the mouthpieces are made of amber, hard rubber, ivory, bone horn and pressed materials.
