  This definition must be distinguished from the definition of compressibility in engineering practice, which is the ratio of the fractional change in volume to the pressure producing that change in volume. This property is of considerable importance in several uses of paper, notably in printing and book binding.
  
  The terms compressibility and hardness should not be used indiscriminately. Compressibility is one of the main qualities of corrugated boards.
