  Définition

  Resistance to bending. The resistance against deformation of a flat-bed printing press. This can be measured with the pre-tension meter "fv".
  
  The stiffness of paper is its ability to support its own weight, the inverse of flatliness or limpness.
  
  The ability of paper or paperboard to resist deformation under stress. The resistance to a force causig the member to bend is termed bending or flexural stiffness. This may be defined as the product of the modulus of elasticity and the moment of inertia of the section. The former is a material property, and the latter depends on the configuration of the test member. All other things being equal, the stiffness of paper varies as the cube of the thickness and directly with the modulus of elasticity.
