A high-grade coal having a lustrous appearance, a high carbon, low ash content, high density and burning slowly with a blue flame, producing little smoke or odour.

A hard, black lustrous coal containing a high percentage (between 92 % and 98 %) of fixed carbon and a low percentage (between 2 % and 8 %) of volatile matter and, generally, a heating value of 12,000-15,000 British thermal units per pound.
