The treatment of dehaired and limed pelt with a preparation containing a deliming agent and proteolytic enzymes, formerly derived from pigeon, hen and dog dung, but today usually synthetically prepared.
A unit operation in leather manufacture in which the dehaired skins or hides are treated with enzyme-containing materials to provide desirable softness and flexibility (plumpness) prior to tanning.Note :
The most effective enzymes for this purpose are pancreatin and trypsin.
