a) Edgewise sweep of curvature. b) Bow or Sweep. In rolled material, the greatest deviation from a straight line along a longitudinal edge in plate, sheet or strip. c) In rolls, the increased diameter at the middle of rolls designed to counterbalance the bending of the rolls when they are subjected to high pressure during rolling. d) The slight convexity used in the design of moulds to increase the centre diameter and thus counterbalance any tendency for the mould face to bend inwards in the casting of the ingot.
