Note :
Dans un circuit inductif, c.-à-d. comprenant une bobine (ex. : transformateur, ballast, moteur à induction), l'expansion et la contraction du champ magnétique de la bobine produisent une force contre-électro-motrice, c.-à-d. une tension qui s'oppose à la tension de source. Cet effet d'opposition, appelé réactance inductive, entraîne une réduction du courant de source et, par conséquent, de la puissance apparente.

The opposition to the passage of a current arising from inductive effects in the circuit concerned.
Note :
In an inductive circuit, i.e. comprising a coil (e.g. transformer, ballast, induction motor), the expansion and contraction of the coil magnetic field generate a counter-electromotive force, i.e. a voltage. This opposing effect called inductive reactance, causes a reduction of the source current and, consequently of the apparent power.
