Date :Définition
Colloïdal silica resembling coarse white sand in appearance but possessing many fine pores and therefore extremely adsorbent that is made by coagulation of hydrated silica and is used chiefly as a selective adsorbent and as a catalyst carrier.
A porous solid material consisting of silica manufactured in pellets of various sizes; it is made by treating sodium silicate (water glass) with sulfuric acid.Note :
Its physical structure and uses are not unlike those of activated carbon. It has high adsorptive power for atmospheric moisture and finely divided solids and thus is largely used as a dehumidifier and clarifying agent and as a carrier for catalysts.
