Note :

A device in which heat can be transferred by the evaporation and subsequent condensation of a liquid in a closed vessel.
Self-contained, closed system capable of transporting thermal energy from a source to a sink.Notes :
Unlike a heat pump, a heat pipe operates at substantially constant pressure throughout, and cannot produce a heat output at a higher temperature than the input. The device uses no power, however, and the condensed liquid is returned to the evaporation region by capillary action within a wick of absorbent material. The simplicity of the device results in low installation and maintenance costs. By suitable choice of working fluid and operating pressure, a heat pipe can be designed for use at almost any required temperature. The thermal conductance of a heat pipe can be high - as much as several hundred times that of copper - and power handling capacity is high. Heat pipes find application in waste heat recovery in industrial processes.
Heating one end of the pipe causes the liquid to vaporize, transfer and dissipate its heat to the other end where it condenses into liquid which flows back towards to hot end by gravity or by means of a capillary wick.Terme :
