Date :Définition
Any of several cyclic compounds derived from benzene but having a different arrangement of double bonds.
Notes :
The quinones are strongly colored (red or yellow) compounds as a result of a characteristic chromophore grouping; two atoms of oxygen are double-bonded to the ring in either the para- or the ortho- locations (C6H4O2).
Quinones are used as dye intermediates and fungicides. They are also the parent compounds of hydroquinones C6H4(OH)2, used in photography as developing agents, as antioxidants for rubber and fatty organic compounds, and as reaction inhibitors. Both quinones and hydroquinones are quite poisonous.Terme :
