  Définition

  A theory of immunologic tolerance to self antigens according to which "forbidden clones" of immunocytes, those reactive with self antigens, are eliminated on contact with antigen during fetal life. The terms "clonal abortion", "clonal anergy", "clonal silencing" and "clonal purging" have also been used for this phenomenon.
