An imperative programming language is one which contains imperative commands to a machine to perform various operations.
Note :
It can be contracted to a "declarative" language, in which a program is seen as a number of declaratively true statements, and an applicative language, in which a program is seen as a "function" to be applied to "arguments". The more common imperative programming languages are: Pascal, ALGOL, BASIC, COBOL and FORTRAN.
