A disorder of young infants in which there is often deposition of gammaglobulin and complement C1 and C3 in the glomerular loops.
Note :
There is evidence that in some cases the condition may be caused by maternal sensitization to fetal tissue components; in others, the disorder is secondary to a specific congenital disease such as syphilis. Clinically, the nephrotic syndrome appears in early infancy often with other features such as haematuria, cylindruria and hypertension. Progression to renal failure is unresponsive to therapy and death from uraemia occurs usually before the age of two years.
