Such guarantees are quite common in cases where a special issuing vehicle such as an NV subsidiary have been used. In the case of a third party guarantee, such as a bank, it may take the form of an irrevocable letter of credit. Multiple guarantees have been seen in some transactions, but they suffer from the problem that the value placed on the guarantee will be that of the weakest credit. In order to get around this problem, usually one institution will front for the others in the syndicate and a series of indemnification's between the parties will be put in place.
