- protocole à diffusion intensive n. m.
Bridges provide a simple mechanism for connecting two or more LANs together in a simple network topology. The bridge enables two devices attached to different LANs, which use the same protocol (e.g. TCP/IP to TCP/IP) to communicate, the bridge itself being protocol independent. This is a simple and generally low cost solution but can impact network performance in the case of broadcast intensive protocols.
