A concept first developed by Phares (1957) relating to beliefs about internal versus external control of reinforcement.
Note :
It is assured that individuals develop a general expetancy regarding their ability to control their lives. People who believe that the events that occur in their lives are a result of their own behaviour and for personality characteristics are said to have an "expectancy of internal control", while people who believe events in their lives to be a function of luck, chance, fate, powerful others or powers beyond their control or comprehension are said to have an "expentancy of external control".
